What does a prism do to light?
A prism separates the different colours from light.
What does a black object do to white light?
A black object doesn’t reflect the white light.
Why would a green shirt look black in red light?
A green shirt would look black in green light because the red light is absorbed.
Why can you not have a white or black filter?
You can’t have a white or black filter because black and white are not real colours.
What are the different parts of the eye?
The cornea, the pupil, the retina, the iris, the optic nerve and the lens.
Which part of the eye focuses the light?
The cornea and the lens focus the light.
What is the difference between reflection and refraction?
Refraction bends the light and reflection reflects it.
What are the definitions of luminous and non-luminous?
Luminous-gives out or emits light e.g. the sun.
Non-luminous-does not give out it’s own light e.g. the moon.
What is the difference between emit and transmit?
Emit is to make it’s own light and transmit is to take light and reflect it.
What is the difference between translucent and transparent material?
Transparent is something you can see through and translucent is something that you can’t really see through e.g. frosted glass.
What is a light year?
A light year is a state of measurement.
