P10-Force/Mass/Acceleration And Momentum Flashcards
What is the formula for momentum?
P= m x v
What is compression?
Compression happens when the particles making up the material are being pushed together.
What is Newtons second law?
F = m x a or (F=ma)
What is mass ?
Mass is the amount of a substance which is usually measured in (kg).
What is meant by acceleration?
Acceleration refers to an object change in velocity(either faster or slower). Usually measured in (m/s).
What is force?
Force is a push or pull of an object. You cannot see it but you can see what it does.
How are weight and mass different?
Mass refers to the amount of a substance(measured in kg).
Weight is the downward force exerted by an object due to its mass(measured in Newtons).
What is inertia?
Inertia is the tendency to stay at rest or continue in constant velocity.
What is the equation for weight?
Weight = Mass x Acceleration(gravitational force)
What is Tension?
Tension is the particles in the material being pulled further apart.
What is Proportionality?
Corresponding in size or amount to something else
A variable quantity having constant ratio to another quantity.
What is the equation for acceleration?
A = (V-U)/T
What is the equation for momentum?
P=M x V
What is the force applied equation?
F = KE
