Involves developing positive emotions and affect; experiencing contentment with the past, happiness in the present, hope for the future.
Involves focusing on individual virtues and strengths.
NB - this is not a treatment, but it can accompany the treatment of mental illness

Reflections are when the coach makes a statement to the client using the same phrases or summary of what the clinet stated.
Simple reflections - parapharse/restatement of what pt said without added opinion or interpretation.
Amplified - maximize OR minimize what patient has said in order to generate disagreement of the exaggerated statement & evoke statements of desired change.
Double-sided - reveal more than one perspective at the same time (eg compare verbalized readiness to change with a contrasting statement of resistance)
Shifted-focus - redirect attention from a statement of resistance to a new area in an attempt to create more space for change talk.
