Most homes owned a radio set you mid 1920s
It had news, sports, music and entertainment shows
Advertising increased on the radios
Jazz music
Became popular in northern cities Loved by young adults Developed new style of dance Banned some areas of south due to segregation Old people disliked it Known as jazz age
Stock market boom
Huge confidence in economy to grow
People bought shares which created more jobs
These people gained percentage of the companies profits
All worked until people started selling shares to make a profit on what they had originally bought
This led to the crash
Women before 1920s
Very traditional Clothes covered body Not many had jobs Married woman weren't aloud to work Influence from church in the south
Women- flapper
Young middle class urban women Short hair wore trousers or very reviling clothes

Influenced new modern styles
Hollywood stars became role models
Women- sexual freedom
Met up with men without chaperones

It challenged traditional views of women after they worked in factories
Given the right to vote in 1920

By 1929 10 million women were in work
Gave women more free time
Never happened in the south limited in the north
