Ozymandias Flashcards
“Antique land”
Suggests the power of ozymandias has aged like the landscape
“Vast and trunkless legs of stone”
Ozymandias and his power were once important but now he has no substance to him literally and metaphorically
“My name is ozymandias, king of kings: look on my works ye mighty dispair”
Shows pride and arrogance but the line now mocks him and Shelley uses irony to mock ozymandias as his statue and power have now both been destroyed
“Nothing besides remains”
His power has come to an end and been destroyed
“Colossal wreck”
His once powerful statue has been destroyed by nature
“Lone and level sands stretch far away”
Nature has crumbled the statue and levelled out the desert like how his power as nature will always be more powerful as humans and the statue and his power have been levelled out as he has no influence over anyone
