A
Trauma, CO poisoning, shock, suspected hypoxia or respiratory distress, acute CP with suspected AMI

In small % of pts with chronic lung disease o2 can decrease respiratory drive, what are some precautions
A
do not withhold o2, be prepared to assist with ventilation, and dont start above 2 lpm

Side effects and special notes of O2 administration
A
Non humidified O2 is drying and irritating to mucous membranes, restlessness may be a sign of hypoxia, oxygen toxicity is not a risk, cannulas work just as well with mouth or nose breathers
