A

Over wash is the flow of water and sediment over a coastal barrier during storm events (or other situations with high water).
Cross shore flows to the back of the island

Start with a back barrier edge.
Multiple wash-over lobes initiate simultaneously.
As some throats merge, others are abandoned.
Headscarps grow radially into the barrier top.
