Overview of the Brain Unit 2 Flashcards
Four Major Functions of Brain
Gathers Information, Process the information to the brain/spine, Transmit information, sends information to the muscle, glands, and organs
Two Major Divisions of the Nerous System
Central Nervous System and Peripheal Nervous System
Componets of the Central Nervous System
Brain and Spinal Cord
Peripheal Nervous System
Autonomic NS and Somatic NS
Autonomic Nervous System can be seperated into….?
Sympathetic NS and Parasympathtic NS
Fight or Fight
Automatic
Rest and Digest
Somatic
Two Major cell types that make up the Nervous System
Neuron and Glial Cells
3 type of neurons
sensory neuron( to the central nervous), interneuron (between sensory and motor ), motor neuron ( from the central nervous)
What Directions does the 3 type of neurons send a signal to?
The Central Nervous System
Sensory Neuron
Respond to Stimuli and send info to the CNS
Motor Neuron
Organs that produce a response and recieve info from CNS
How are cells different from neurons?
Cells divide and replicate unlike neurons, cells are also designed to support message, carrying neurons
Cerebrum
Performs higher function like interupting touch, vision, hearing, speech, reasoning, emotions, learning, and control of movement
Cerebellum
Coordinate muscle movement, maintain posture, and balance
