- Mostly maritime w/ cooling effect from oceans
- Benguela current flows from Antartica and cools coastal areas
- South-east cooling summer winds [aka “Cape Doctor”]
- Becomes very warm to hot moving inland away from coasts

What Is the “Cape Doctor” /what does it do?
A
- a strong southeasterly wind blows across Western Cape in spring/summer
- suppresses fungal disease
- moderates temperatures
- can injure vines and disturb flowering
