Overview Flashcards
What are the automatic functions for the Air Conditioning System?
- PACK control
- Compartment temperature control
- Cabin Air Recirculation
- Fault Detection
- Overheat protection
From where do the PACKS normally receive air?
Left PACK from the left engine
Right PACK from the right engine
What is the restriction on using BOTH PACKS on 1 engine?
DO NOT DO IT
What do PACK valves function as?
- Flow Control
- PACK shutoff valves
How are PACK valves controlled? Operated?
Electrically/Pneumatically
How do PACK valves regulate air?
Based on altitude and switch position
What are the PACK switch Positions? What do they do?
OFF- Pack valve is CLOSED and no air is flowing through the air conditioning PACK
AUTO- With both PACKS operating, each PACK regulates to LOW flow. With only one PACK operating, the other PACK automatically regulates to HIGH flow to maintain adequate pressurization. Automatic regulation to HIGH flow also takes place with both engine BLEED air switches OFF and the APU BLEED air switch is ON.
HIGH- Both PACKS regulate to HIGH flow
When is automatic switching to HIGH flow inhibited?
- On the ground
- With the flaps extended
When can you not operate with the PACKs in HIGH?
- Takeoff
- Approach
- Landing
What does the PACK TRIP OFF light indicate?
That the PACK temperature has exceeded its limits
What automatically takes place when the PACK TRIP OFF light illuminates?
The corresponding PACK valves closes and the mix valve drives to the full COLD position
How do you reset the PACK TRIP OFF light after the overheat is corrected?
PACK TRIP RESET switch
What occurs once the PACK TRIP RESET switch is selected?
The related PACK valve and the mix valve returns to its commanded position.
How are the PACKS cooled?
RAM air inlet doors
How are the RAM air inlet doors controlled?
Automatically by their associated PACK
