Overview Flashcards
What are the four stages in order
Glycolisis, Pyruvate oxidation, Kreb Cycle, ETC
What are the products of glycolisis
2 NADH, 2 pyruvates (3C each), 2 net ATPS
What are the products of pyrivate oxidation (for 2 pyvate molecules0
2 Acetyl-CoA, 2 NADH, 2 CO2
What are the products of Kreb cycle (for two rounds)
6 NADH, 2 FADH2, 4CO2, 2 GTP
What are the products of Kreb Cycle (for one round)
3 NADH, 1 FADH2, 2CO2, 1 GTP
What are the products of ETC
- ATP (32)
- Water
What is the net ATP produced per glucose molecule
36 ATP
- 2 from glycolisis
- 2 from Kreb Cycle
- 32 from ETC
Why is there two rounds of the Kreb Cycle
1 glucpse molec becomes 2 pyruvate in glycolisis. Each round of the Kreb Cycle uses 1 pyruvate
Whats the defintion of cellualr respiration
Chemical process which oxygen is used to make energy from carbohydrates
Whats the chemical formula of glucose
C6H12O6
Where does each step take place
Glycolisis - cytoplasm
Pyruvate oxidation - bridge to mitochondrial matrix
Kreb Cycle - Mitochondrial Matrix
ECT - Inner mitochondrial membrane
