Storyline Timeline
Outline the story itself—list major events in order
• Starts in Sky World
• Wife is pregnant and craving the bark of the forbidden tree
• Husband gives in and gets the bark, but punches a hole into another world
• Wife looks through the hole and is curious; she falls/is pushed through the whole
• As she falls she grabs the roots and soil from the Sky world
• As she falls, the birds catch her (Nature is here to help us!)
• The birds put her on the Earth
• She needs soil in order to grow the food so Earth Diver (muskrat) dives down and gets the soil she needs
• She does a circular, ritual-like walking that begins to grow the Earth
• She gives birth to a daughter; daughter grows up and gets pregnant with Twins
• Two arrows are on her belly (one sharp; one blunt…ie one is dangerous; one is safe) arrows represent the Twins she is carrying
• The twins battle in the womb and the one (Left-handed one) comes out of her body the wrong way which kills her.
• The twins continue to battle in life creating different things:
o Soft/cuddly, non-dangerous things are created by the Right-handed Twin
o Dangerous things created by Left-handed Twin
o Creates a leveling of the playing field
• The Right-handed one wins the ultimate battle by killing the Left -handed Twin who becomes the leader of the “dead world”
• The Right-handed twin kills the grandmother who is so mad that the Right-handed twin killed his brother and he throws her into the sky and she becomes the moon.
