tell us about yourself?
I come from a non-technical background where I studied zoology at the university. I started off coding out of curiosity tho I have always been fascinated with the way the computer functions. Over the years, I have built up lots of skills and qualities that I believe will be of benefit to your organization. i am very strong in teamwork and I understand that in order to achieve difficult projects and tasks you must work with other people. i am also very good at working under pressure and I actually prefer to be in situations where the pressure is on because I believe this is where I am at my best. i am also good at building up relationships among my teammates which I believe is key to achieving tasks ahead easily.
whilst at work, I am a person who takes pride in delivering each task to a high standard and I achieve this by working closely with other people in my team. i also make sure I obtain a clear brief on what exactly the team lead wants me to achieve.
if successful, I am looking forward to learning the role quickly and getting to know as much about your products and services. so I can start contributing and making a positive impact within the organization.
why do you want to work for our company?
having researched your company, it’s clear to see you have strong and exciting plans for the future and I would like to be part of the journey through the role I am being interviewed for today.
why do you want to leave your job?
while i highly valued my time at my previous company, there are no longer learning opportunities or should I say career growth opportunities. Being at the companywas a huge learning curve for me but I am seeking new challenges and opportunities that align with my personal career goals and aspiration which is why I am sure your company will be the perfect fit.
whats your biggest weakness??
i realized with my experience that my greatest weakness is that I get overwhelmed when a deadline is near and then its get really tough to get focused but I have been working on that for quite a time and I have been talking courses on it and watching videos on which have strongly helped me improve my weakness and I believe with time, I will be able to improve it completely.
what are the positive traits you possess that will serve you well in this role??
i am hardworking, optimistic, focused and professional which will serve well on the role.
why should we hire you??
in my previous company, we work on so many projects sometimes working for third-party companies. I and my team has always gotten the job done in time while making a good and reusable decision during the cause of the project in which we always users first. seeing that your company is also user-centric, it has always been part of my job and personal passion to ensure that decisions are made putting the user in mind. i am excited to bring my unique blend of skills to the role.
how well do you work under pressure??
honestly. i am someone who thrives under pressure. its always not easy but it must be done. i have grown an habit of been proactive so as to avoid any situation that will put me under pressure in the first place. the key to striving is really planning and time management of which I have been learning and get good at.
How much do you currently earn?
Well, I have a very robust job description and even go the extra mile to execute tasks outside my JD. I currently earn somewhere between N150,000 – N250,000, this is subject to further increase scheduled by the company”
What is your salary expectation?
Considering the job description and working conditions, I am looking at anywhere between N250,000 to N350,000 monthly. I’m more than open to negotiating this, depending upon your benefits package.”
Name one tricky software development problem, and how did you solve it??
Just say u were made to work on a legacy code base and u were expected to integrate a new modern framework. That the system was built using jquery. U were able to componentize each layer and try to do a lot of understanding on jquery to understand the behavior of the existing system for better transitioning
Have you ever disagreed with your team lead and how did you act??
yes, I have but really not always a disagreement. I was trying to communicate what I feel is best for the product and the best it can be implemented. This particular we had a bit of communication and we weighed the pros and cons and at the end, my tech lead’s suggestion was actually best and I am happy to follow it.
what are your favorite resources to keep updated on software engineering??
I am a visual learning person even tho I look checking out documentation and reading detailed articles. I subscribe to tech channels, medium, dev.to, a newsletter from developers that’s I love their teachings and also visit CSS-tricks.
Describe the work environment in which you flourish?
My ideal work environment is one that focuses on teamwork. I like companies like yours that put an effort in gelling the group together and making sure everyone is supported. I like that sort of structure and formality of knowing what you’re supposed to do and when you are aware of the situation. I work best when I have a group of positive people working around me and where I can focus on putting my talent to work.
what is your preferred work style
Openwork style, where i can reach out to any member easily without hierarchy way of work scope
Have you handled a difficult situation with a co-worker and how??
Yes but I always find a common ground by picking what’s best in both ideas and moving forward.
