What s Behcet’s syndrome?
Autoimmune mediated inflammation of arteries and veins.
Triad of symptoms are oral ulcers, genital ulcers and anterior uveitis
Name some spondyloarthropathies
Ankolysing spondylitis,
Psoriatic arthritis
Reactive arthritis
Enteropathic arthritis (associted with IBD)
These are all seronegative meaning rheumatoid factor negative
What is Dactylitis?
inflammation of the digits
What is Marfan’s?
connective tissue disease with autosomal dominant inheritance. Caused by defect in the FBN1 gene.
What are the features of marfans?
Tall stature, high arched palate, arachnoidactyly, pectus excavatum, pes planus, scoliosis, dilation of aortic sinus, mitral valve prolapse, pnumothoracies
What is McArdle’s disease?
Autosomal receive disorder of glycogen storage. Results in muscle pain and stiffness following exercise, muscle cramps, myoglobinuria, low lactate levels
What is Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis?
Rare condition associated with abnormal proliferation of histiocytes. Presents in childhood with bony lesions.
Features - bone pain, cutaneous nodules, recurrent otitis media/mastoidisitis, birbeck granules
What is osteogenesis imperfecta?
Disorder of type 1 collagen metabolism resulting in bone fragility and fractures. Presents in childhood with fractures following minor trauma, blue sclera, deafness and dental imperfections
Name the rotator cuff muscles
SItS - Supraspinatous (abducts arm before deltoid, most commonly injured), Infraspinatous (rotates arm laterally), teres minor (Adducts and rotates laterally) and subscapularis (adducts and rotates arm medially)
