what was life like for ordinary people in the 1920’s and 1930’s
In the 1920s, life for ordinary people was full of prosperity. Everyone was at their best economically as the economy was booming from the end of the war and all of the hardship. They were wearing the best clothes and lived in some of the best homes. As well as new technology was making its way into the world such as the telephone and the automobile. In the 1930s life was the complete opposite for ordinary people. the stock markets crashed Which ended up making these Ordinary People have almost nothing. A lot of them ended up homeless on the streets, or just barely making it to survive with food on the table. Money was hard to come by making people desperate for even a dollar.
Why the economy throughout the early and mid-1920s is doing well.
In the 1920s the economy was doing very well because people learned how to mass produce products but also they started spending a lot of their money really fast which created an uprising on the materialistic market, as people wanted to enjoy life together because they were held back from the war a few years before. People were living full of prosperity because of the abundance of jobs that they were able to get their hands on and the money they accumulated from those. Banks were also giving people loans with money they didn’t have to give back at the time.
What groups in Canada do not share in the economic prosperity at this time? Why?
Immigrants and Black people didn’t share in the economic prosperity at the time, this stemmed from the rasicm that was embedded in our history. Although white people did have the prosperity of the 20s, this is because they have access to the tools needed to achieve that kind of life, rather than black people who weren’t allowed to have these nice steady jobs at the time.
