Can be used to assess severity and location - but used in relatively stable patients
Other modalities (FAST)
Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma, is used at the time of presentation. It is an
extension of the patient assessment and can be used to identify intraperitoneal fluid allowing direct transfer to theatre, CT, etc…

Image Intensifier, is used in theatre to locate foreign bodies and assess fracture alignment

Interventional Radiography can be used to assess damage to a patients blood vessels (angiography examination)

Definitions of PPP
Procedure: The entire procedure in its entirety
Protocols: The actual individual examinations included in the procedure
