What are the INTERLUKIN INHIBITORS- used for asthma
Montelukast
Monoclonal antibodies.(BMDO)(BiMDO) - end in “umab”
- dupilumab

What are the MOA and indication for MONO clinal antibodies
Generally bind to interlukin receptors reducing production of Estonphils reducing airway inflammation
Indicated last line for refractory esinophililic asthma as a add on therapy to optimised standard therapy
What is montelukast and its MOA, Indication
INdication Montelukast used in maintenance treatment in asthma and exercise induced Asthma
> used on top of SABA+ ICS for asthma management
> used for seasonal allergic rhinitis but not superior over intranasal corticosteroids
MOA- inhibits interleukin reduced inflammation and smooth muscle contraction caused by interleukin
What are the adverse effects and dosage for MOntelukast
COmmon a/e- headache , abdominal pain and diarrhoea
Rare- Neuropsychiatric effects - can cause nightmares ,hallucinations, mood or behavioural changes(anxiety, depression, aggression and suicide ideation)
Dosage- 4-5-10 OD
Adult- 10mg once daily
Kids 6+ 5mg ONCE daily
Kids<6yrs-4mg Daily
What are the practice points and counselling for MOntelukast
Take it in the evening
Chewable tablets - chew thoroughly before swallowing don’t swallow it whole.
