Immovable Property
Property will be considered immovable if it is currently fixed in place and unable to be moved, even though it may be possible to make it movable.

Liquid Samples:
• Only send liquid in bottles provided in a fire sampling kit
• Ensure tops are tightly screwed on
• Put in a polystyrene box
• If possible, hand deliver
• Can be placed and secured in a tin and send the entire kit
Exhibits - Take these control samples:
• Charred timber and ashes/debris from the seat of the fire and compare with samples from other areas
• Any accelerants found near the scene
• Soil from surrounding areas

Hazards at a fire scene:
• Inhalation of toxic fumes/substances
• Cuts/wounds from sharp objects
• Airborne dust particles
• Tripping on debris
• Items falling from above
Fire scene risk:
• Timber: take note of thickness and the load it’s carrying
• Steel: could lose strength and collapse
• Concrete: can break away at surface (spalling)
• Masonry and brick: can be weakened causing floors and roof frames to collapse
Attending Police should be aware of:
• Be aware of reignition from hotspots
• Be vigilant and watch for possible suspects
• ID any witnesses
• Report relevant matters to the OC
