Are liquids good conductors of heat?
A
No, they are poor
3
Q
Are gases good conductors of heat?
A
No, they are poor
4
Q
Why are metals good conductors?
A
As you heat metals, the particles vibrate, making the adjacent ones vibrates and so on. The outer electrons for metal atoms drift, and are free to move. When heated, the ‘ sea of electrons ‘ gain kinetic energy and transfer it throughout the metal. Insulators don’t have the ‘ sea ‘, so therefore don’t conduct heat as well.
