Other Flashcards
What restrictions, if any, are placed on traffic during the limited ATS phase?
- the Auckland OCA remains Class A airspace and an air traffic control service shall be provided
- traffic flow management procedures will be implemented
- all ATS fixed routes remain available, no flex tracks or user preferred routes
Who is responsible for issuing the OCS flow NOTAM?
Oceanic Team Leader
Who shall decide when ATS delivery shall be resumed from either the OCS main or reserve platforms?
Oceanic Team Leader
What systems is the CNS/ATM system based on?
Global navigation systems, global communication systems and automatic dependent surveillance.
Are VFR flights permitted in Oceanic Class G airspace?
Yes.
Why is end to end monitoring of the FANS 1/A CNS/ATM system required?
Because of the integrated nature of the system and the degree of interaction between it’s components.
How will an aircraft operator indicate that the appropriate state authority has approved the aircraft for RVSM operation?
The letter W inserted in Field 10a of the ICAO flight plan.
When are aircraft entering airspace within which a larger lateral separation minimum applies than that which applies to the airspace being exited considered separated, and what is the minimum navigation requirement?
Aircraft are flying on tracks that:
- are separated by appropriate (lateral or radar) separation for the airspace are being exited, and
- diverge by 15 degrees or more until the larger separation minima has been established, and
- aircraft have the navigation capability to ensure correct track guidance
- RNP 10 or better
- INS/IRS + FMS
- GNSS
When may an aircraft which is not RVSM approved, flight plan to operate within RVSM airspace?
When a non-RVSM civil aircraft is:
- being initially delivered to the state of registry or operator, or
- was formerly RVSM approved but has experienced an equipment failure and is being flown to a maintenance facility for repair in order to meet RVSM requirements and/or obtain approval, or
- is transporting a spare engine or strut assembly externally, or
- is being utilised for mercy or humanitarian purposes
Do RVSM aircraft have level priority over non-RVSM aircraft?
Yes. A non-RVSM state aircraft shall be afforded the same priority as a RVSM approved aircraft.
When can RVSM levels be used outside of RVSM airspace?
Only as part of a block clearance.
When shall Oceanic controllers suspend RVSM operations for an individual aircraft
When the pilot reports:
- the aircraft is no longer RVSM compliant, or
- the aircraft has encountered severe turbulence
When aircraft are unable to meet their filed RNP value, when are the pilots required to advise ATC?
- 30 minutes prior to entry to RNP airspace, or
- immediately, when within 30 minutes of, or in RNP airspace
May aircraft which are non-compliant with RNP 10 be permitted to operate in the RNP area?
Yes.
Detail the requirements of applying D50RNP longitudinal separation in RNP10 airspace.
- same/reciprocal/parallel reciprocal tracks
- CPDLC and ADS-C connection
- when at or near minimum distance, speed control shall be applied
- if able, prior to applying separation, controller should determine adequacy of datalink communications
- not less than 50NM between aircraft by means of ADS position reports
- ADS-C reports at least every 27 minutes
- if report not received within 3 mins, OCS automatically initiates on-demand and posts message to sector queue
- if report not received within 6 mins, OCS automatically:
- sends on-demand
- deselects D flag
- posts message to sector queue
- initiates conflict probe
