How many officers needed for 24 x 7 coverage of 5 sectors for one year?
Facts: There are three tours each day, officers work five days a week with two regular days off, Average sick = six days per year, Training = ten days a year, vacation = thirty days a year
A
(First figure out how many days a year the average officer works, by adding up all the days they are off and then subtracting it by 365.)
52x2=104
104+6+10+30=150
356-150 = 215 (days average officer is available each year)
(Then figure out how many times in a year coverage is needed)
5 posts x 3 tours = need coverage 15 times per day. 15x365 = 5,475 (times per year)
(Finish by dividing the coverage needed by the amount of tours one officer does a year)
5,475/215 = 25.465 = 26 (Always round up)
26 = number of officers needed for coverage
