- Here Desdemona explores female intelligence and a form of rebellion against society. she speaks of her only following her ‘duty’ of stating with her husband and that he takes president over her father. just as her ‘mother once did’.

- Brabantio warns Othello of future deception that may occur. Although Iago may not have been aware Brabantio told Othello this, it is most likely something that fueled Othello’s mistrust and jeoulousy over Desdemona.

- Shakespeare explores race and the stereotypes agaisnt black men at the time. Perhaps he criticises the disparity btwn ‘white’ / ‘fair’ and ‘black’. ‘Black’ has coonotations of uglyness and evil, whereas, in contrast, ‘white’ suggests beuty amd virtue.
- Alongside Iago’s animalistic terminology when describing Othello, the use of crude language emphasises the dehumanisation and ‘othering’ of Othello and ‘moors’ at that time.

- Othello is slowly loosing santiy and is falling into the pit of stereotypes surrounding a ‘moors’ jelousy and ‘propensity to violence’ as Leavis states. About to Kill Desdemona.

'’let husbands know/ Their wives have sense like them’’
- Shakespeare exposes women’s feminist voices through the character of Emilia. She challenges the patriarchy which evenyually leads to her destruction. Emilia could be Shakespeares way of criticising men’s dominance over women to the point of them having no voice.
Analyse.
As Othello grows increasingly abusive, Desdemona appears confused amd hurt. Not understanding the cause of his behaviour.
