  1. God primarily does two things: Creates and saves
A
  • Not only does God exist, he chooses to create
  • God creates according to His own nature; He creates light, we later learn that He is light. Creates life, later learn that He is the living God
  • God creates day-by-day, progressively until he has completed what he set out to make
  • God’s word is his instrument of creation. Therefore, his words effect orderliness, life and goodness
  • Evil can never ultimately thwart the saving purposes of God; We have not only read the first chapter, but we have also read the final chapter… GOD wins.

-God progressively reveals himself throughout Israel’s history
-God’s self-revelation is always appropriate to the life setting in which it was made

Q

TEN THINGS I LEARNED IN THIS CLASS

A
  1. God creates us according to His own nature - He creates light, and we later learn that He IS light. Creates LIFE, we later learn that He is the living God.
  2. God’s rest is about completing what he had begun; it is not about, ‘taking a break’ or about ‘recouping his energy’
  3. Similarities between Noah and Adam - both agents of a start
  4. Sometimes God gives us what we need but not what we want - Sometimes when God gives people the desire of their hearts, when they are asked for out of wrong motives, the answer is God’s judgment
  5. The wilderness testings - very quickly an ungrateful attitude can turn into a habit of un-gratitude (Marah)
  6. Christians today use communion as a time of covenant renewal - we celebrate the Lord’s supper
  7. Sometimes the smallest tasks are the greatest (Mary & Jesus) - we will be rewarded in heaven
  8. God can do what no one else can do - seen in coming of Jesus
  9. Four qualities of Adam - Dignity, purpose, freedom, power
  10. Man has both God-like and devil-like natures; creative vs destructive
