the transport protein in the cell membrane has a hole big enough for the useful molecule outside of the cell, the useful molecule slots into the transport protein. The transport protein then turns releasing the molecule into the cell.

osmosis is only for the movement of water molecules
what are the two main differences between osmosis and active transport?
active transport requires energy whereas osmosis doesn’t, also active transport goes against the concentration gradient and osmosis goes down the concentration gradient
