Introduction
What pronouns would you like me to use?
PMHx:
- ‘it’s important for me to know your medical history in detail so I can provide the best possible medical care. Are you under a gender identity clinic? Where are you in your transitioning journey?’
- Ask about hormones/surgery, DHx/allergies/contraception
- Be sure to ask about mood and mental health
SHx:
Paid for/every paid for sex
Male/female partners? Confirm if cis-males?
ETOH/smoking/drugs
Think about: contraception, vaccinations, PEP, smear
Contraception even if on tesetosterone! (can have any progesterone only method, IUD, avoid COC)
Safeguarding questions:
How old is your parnter?
Where do you have sex?
Do your parents know you’re having sex?
Have you ever had sex when you didn’t really want to?
Have you ever been given any gifts or money for sex?
Do you take drugs/alcohol/smoke?
Are you happy at school? Good friends?
Who is at home with you?
Do you have or have you ever had a social worker?
PrEP studies:
- IPREX showed that one daily dosing with truvada can reduce risk of HIV transmission
- PROUD study showed it was effective in a real life setting
- IPERGAY supported event based dosing
