2nd degree- up to half of ligament fibers torn
3rd degree- complete ligament tear
Examples- ankle roll, wrist sprain due to fall on out stretched hand (FOOSH)

1st degree- mild stretching
2nd degree- moderate stretching and/or tearing
3rd degree- severe stretching with complete tear or pull away from the bone
Treatment- R/O fx, protection, RICE, pain meds

Dislocation- complete displacement of joint surfaces

Subluxation- partial displacement or brief separation of joint surfaces
