What is the difference between Orthographic projection & Perspective projection?
Orthographic- Perspective-
Advantage: dimensionally stable. Adv: Spatially Integrated
Dis-advantage: requires interpretation. Dis: Unstable ( cannot build)
Purpose: Can build from plans Pur: Visualization (presentation)
What are the 3 principal planes of projection?
- horizontal plane ( top & bottom )
- frontal plane ( front & back )
- profile plane

Ortho means 90*
Projects images parallel to infinity
What are characteristics of an Orthographic SURFACE?
90* Projection Plane “ Normal surface”
- true size
- true length.
- Frontal : Single Line
- Horizontal : Perpendicular
- Top view : Foreshortened
What’s is an OBLIQUE SURFACE?
Neither parallel or perpendicular
