reduce overjet and overbite
AIM
please construct a ura to reduce overjet on 22, 21, 11, 12 and reduce overbite

fitting URA 10 steps
- right appliance right patient
- check appliance matches design sheet
- inspect and run finger over all surfaces to check for traumatic/sharp areas
- check integrity of wirework
- insert into pt mouth, look for areas of blanching or soft tissue trauma
- check posterior retention [flyover, arrowhead]
- check anterior retention
- activate appliance
- demonstrate correct removal/insertion and they can do it to
- book appt in 4-6 weeks
pt information and instruction 10 steps
- will feel big and bulky
- initial excessive salivation that will pas in 24hrs
- may impinge on speech, read out loud to subside
- initial discomfort and ache, indicate its working
- worn 24/7 including meal times and sleep
- remove after every meals and clean with soft brush
- remove and store in protective container when contact/active sports
- avoid hard/sticky foods which may damage, caution with hot food/drinks
- missing appt and non compliance will lengthen tx time
- provide emergency contact details in case of any problems
adv of removable
tipping of teeth
excellent anchorage
cheaper than fixed
shorter chairside time
OH easier
non destructive to tooth surface
less specialised training
adapted easily for overbite reduction
block movements
disadv of removable
less precise control of tooth movement
easily removed by pt
only 1-2 teeth moved at a time
specialist staff construct it
rotations difficult to correct
components of stainless steel
iron 72
chromium 18
nickel 8
titanium 1.7
carbon 0.3
active component
name of component(s) which will be moving teeth with application of force
retention
resistant to displacement forces
anchorage
resistance to unwanted tooth movement
baseplate
connects all components as a unit, provides anchorage and assists with retention
