Why does the Presidency exist?
A
It exists because of the founding fathers created a position in Article II of the constitution.

How did the Founding Fathers guard against executive tyranny?
A
They created a check and balance system to make the President limited therefore it stops tyranny. They entrenched these checks and balances into the constitution. They wanted a leader not a ruler so that figure abides by the constitution.

How did Roosevelt summarise his position as President and what did he mean?
A
He said ‘I am both King and Prime Minister’ meaning he is both head of state and head of government
