What do Communists believe?
That all property, including home and businesses, should belong to the state, to ensure that every member of society has a fair share.

When was the Tehran Conference?
November 1943
What agreements were made at Tehran?
- The USA and Britain would open a second front by attacking Germany in Western Europe
- Stalin would declare war against Japan and supply Soviet troops to help the war against Japan but only once the war was over
- An international body would be set up after the war to settle disputes through discussion and negotiation.
When was the Yalta Conference?
February 1945
What agreements were made at Yalta?
- Germany would be split into 4 zones after the war
- A United Nations would be set up
- Stalin agreed to join the war against Japan. three months after the defeat of Germany.
- Stalin agreed that future governments of countries in Eastern Europe would be decided by free elections
When was the Potsdam Conference?
July-August 1945.
What agreements were made at Potsdam?
- Germany would be split into 4 zones
- Berlin would also be split into 4 zones
- Agreement was not made over the government of E. Europe.
Why was Potsdam different to the other conferences?
- Leaders changed (Attlee replaced Churchill, Truman replaced Roosevelt)
- Truman much more anti communist
- USA revealed they had the Atomic Bomb
