The de Montford Parliament 1265:
A
- The decision of the nobleman Simon de Montford to summon commoners as well as nobles and churchmen to Westminster Hall in 1265.
- It was to discuss reforms and is generally seen as the first recognisable parliament.

Bill of Rights 1689:
A
- The agreement of King William III to Parliament’s Bill of Rights established the principle of parliamentary sovereignty.

Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949:
A
- 1911, the House of Lords as an unelected body could only delay by 2 years not veto
- 1949, delayed by only one year.

Extension of the franchise- 1832, 1867, 1884, 1918, 1928 and 1969
A
- Gradually extended the franchise until in 1928.
- In 1928, there was universal franchise to everyone over 21.
- In 1969, the voting age was reduced to 18

House of Lords Act 1999:
A
- All but 92 hereditary peers were removed.
- Most members are life peers.
- Made the HoL more assertive in its dealing with the Commons.
