Orgins and Insertions Back and Suboccipital region Flashcards
Name the origins of the semispinalis (capitis, cervicies, thoracis)
Arises from transverse processes of C4-T10 vertabrae
Name the origins of the Multifidus
Posterior sacrum, posterior superior illiac spine of illium, aponeurosis of erector spinae, SI ligaments, mamillary processes of lumbar vert, transverse processes of thoracic vertebrae, and articular processes of C4-C7
Name the origins of the rotatores
Transverse processes of vert, are best developed in thoracic region
Name the insertion of the splenius capitis and cervicis
Capitis: lateral 1/3 of superior nuchal line and mastoid process of temporal bone / Cervicis: posterior tubercle of transverse process of C1-C4
Name the origin of the erector spinae muscles
SI ligaments, broad tendon of iliac crest, spinous process of inferior lumbar region and sacral, posterior surface of sacrum, supraspinous ligament
Name the insertion of the illiocostalis
fibers run superiorly to the inferior angle of the ribs, connecting to the ribs and transverse process of cervical region
Name the insertion of the rhomboid major and minor
Major: medial border of scapula, inferior to the root of the spine of the scapula and superior to the inferior angle / Minor: medial border at the level of the root of the spine of the scapula
Name the insertion of all three scalenes
Anterior: 1st rib / Middle: superior surface of the first rib posterior to the sulcus for the sublcavian artery / Posterior: external border of second rib
Name the insertion of the spinalis
spinous process of the upper thoracic region to cranium
Name the insertion of the semispinalis capitis/cervicis
fibers run superiomedialy to spinous process of the upper thoracic region to the cranium
Name three transversospinales muscles and explain what the name means
Semispinalis, rotatores, multifidus.. these muscles originate at the transverse process of the vert and insert on the spinous process
What nerve innervates the suboccipital triangle?
C1 (suboccipital)
What nerves run through the posterior cervical triangle?
spinal accessory nerve, trunks of brachial plexus (C5,C6,C7,C8,T1), posterior roots of the cervical plexus (C2,C3,C4)
What artery runs along with the supraclavicular nerve?
Transverse cervical artery
