A

This is where the food goes down. To help push food down, it has a function called peristalsis. This is when the muscles inside squeeze in waves so the food can go down.

Q

Liver

A

Produces bile (an alkali) which can neutralise stomach/hydrochlauric acid when it goes down into the small intestine. This is so the enzymes in the small intestine will not be denatured.

Stomach

A

Mixes food with protease enzymes. Hydrochlauric acid is present. Also, it churns to make food more fluid. The muscle movement helps the food to be broken down.
