Organic Flashcards
Conditions for optical isomers
Explain your answer.
An optical isomer is an isomers that cannot be superimposed and are mirror images of each other. Optical isomers require a chiral carbon with 4 different groups attached to it.
Conditions for geometric isomers
A double bond must must be be present in order to restrict rotation and also they must must be be two different atoms or groups of atoms bonded to each carbon of the double bond in order to allow for different arrangements
Conditions for structural isomers
It has to have the same molecular formula but have different structural formula.
Markninov rule
Sayfezz rule
Acid Hydrolysis for amides
both basic and acidic needs heat.
Acid hydrolysis will produce either a carboxylic acid or an ammonium ion(primary amide), alkylammonium ion(secondary amide)
Basic hydrolysis produces a carboxylate ion and either ammonium (primary amide) or amine(secondary amide)
