Organelles Flashcards
Regulates and releases calcium, irons, and processes toxins located in the cell’s cytoplasm
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
The backbone of a cell, provides both structural support and means of transport within the cell
Cytoskeleton - Microtubules
A double membrane - bound organelle found in most eukaryotic cells, performs cellular respiration
Mitochondria
Partner of Microtubules, helps to form the structure of the cell, found everywhere in a cell
Cytoskeleton - Microfilaments
A clearly defined, often spherical area of the eukaryotic nucleus, compose of densely packed fibrils and granules
Nucleolus
The cell substance between the cell membrane and the nucleus, it contains the cytosol, organelles, cytoskeleton and various particles within the cell
Cytoplasm
Cylindrical cell structure, composed mainly of certain proteins
Centrioles
They carry DNA in a linear order
Chromosomes
Fluid - filled membrane - surrounded cavities inside a cell, the ________ deals with food being digested and waste material that is on it’s way out of the cell
Vacuoles
Encased in a double membrane, and found in most eukaryotic cells, directing their growth, metabolism, and reproduction and functioning in the transmission of genic characters
Nucleus
A flattened, layered sac-like organelle that is located near the nucleus, transportsvliquidsvaround the cell and creates lysosomes
Golgi apparatus
Vast system of interconnected, membranous, it is responsible for the assembly of manny proteins
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
The cell membrane is a plate itself, allowing substances to pass into the cell and blocking others
Cell membrane
Small organelles composed of RNA - rich cytoplasmic granules that are sites of protein synthesis
Ribosomes
A membrane-bound cell organelle found in most animal cells, invoked in digestion and waste removal
Lysosomes
