Organelles Flashcards
Controls the normal activities of the cell, Contain the DNA, contains chromosomes (contains DNA, divides and multiplies mitosis)
Nucleus
Receive & modify proteins made by ER, have transport vesicles with modified proteins pinch off the ends. (Wrap and export proteins)
Golgi Apparatus
Contain digestive enzymes to break down food and worn out cell parts for cells. (Digests and gets rid of wastes)
Lysosome
lacks ribosomes & makes proteins used in the cell (breaks down the proteins)
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
has ribosomes on its surface & makes proteins to export (holds on to proteins when needed)
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
The large network consisting of protein fibers and other molecules that gives shape and structure to cells (Helps maintain shape)
Cytoskeleton
Lies immediately against the cell wall in plant cells, made of protein and phospholipids, selectively permeable, Controls the movement of materials into and out of the cell. (controls what goes in an out the cell)
Cell Membrane
Gives structure and shape to plant and bacterial cells (gives structure to the cell)
Cell Wall
Contain the green pigment chlorophyll, Traps sunlight to make to make sugars (food), where photosynthesis happenes (in plant cells, where photosynthesis happens)
Chloroplasts
Site of Cellular respiration. Making ATP energy. Provides energy to the cell (Creates ATP Energy, powerhouse of the cell)
Mitochondria
Stores nurturance, piments, and waste. Bigger in plant cells | small or non-existent in animal cells (storage)
Vacuole
