Integumentary System
function: provides protection and regulates body temperature
ex. skin, hair, nails
Muscle System
function: provides body movement and generates heat by muscle contraction
ex. muscles, tendons
Nervous System
function: regulatory system that controls body movements, brain functions
ex. brain, spinal cord, nerves
Endocrine System
function: secretes hormones which regulate body and cell growth, reproductive functions
ex. pituitary glands, thyroid glands
Circulatory System
function: pumps blood to distribute hormones, nutrients, gasses, and removes waste
ex. heart, veins, arteries
Lymphatic System
function: transport and filters lymph and initiates immune responses
ex. nodes, lymph vessels, spleen
Digestive System
function: mechanically and chemically breakdowns food, absorbs nutrients, and expels waste
ex. stomach, liver, intestines
Respiratory System
function: exchange of gases within the body between blood and lungs
ex. lungs, trachea
Urinary System
function: filters the blood and removes waste from it, expels urine
ex. kidney, bladder
Reproductive System
function: produces sex cells
ex. ovaries, testes
