It is acceptable to either sign, initial, or utilize an electronic record identifying the verifying pharmacist

They are quarantined, Transferred to a person registered or authorized to accept controlled substances for purposes of destruction.

What is the law for selling a controlled substance for office use? CII and CIII-CV
A prescription cannot be written to provide medical office medications. If office wants CII medications, a DEA form 222 must be used to transfer the stock. For all other meds, an Invoice must be used.
Is a typed CII prescription with an electronically signed signature a valid prescription?
No, physical copies must be handsigned by prescriber
Is a CII perpetual inventory required in all practice settings?
No, It has been required in hospitals, but a quarterly reconciliation is required for retail pharmacies. Perpetual inventory is recommended as a way to keep track of your controlled drug inventory
Does the CII annual inventory have to be separated from the CIII-V inventory?
Yes, they can be on the same report as long as listed out separately.
How long do we need to keep CII inventory records?

What is required of drug outlets electronically ordering CIIs?
Pharmacist must be able to retrieve the DEA 222 from their ordering system for review by board inspectors. This electronic form must contain the date and quantity of each controlled substance received.
In what cases are partial fills on CIIs allowed?
Pharmacist unable to fill entire amount and remaining is dispensed within 72 hours. (if not filled within 72 hours, remainder is forfeit and prescriber notified of actual quantity filled)
Patients residing in a long term care facility or community based facility diagnosed w/ terminal illness in which scripts are good for 60 days from the date the prescription was written.

Yes with prescriber authorization
Yes If prescriber not reasonably available for consulation, and the drug does not utilize a unique delivery system technololgy and as the long as the form dispensed has the same strength, dose, and frequency, and it therapeutically equivalent.
If a CII medication is wirten with only the first or last name of patient, can a pharmacist call the prescriber to clarify it and then fill the prescription?
