What is debridement?
Removal of dead tissue, bacteria, and plaque.
Why during pregnancy do the gingiva bleed more often?
This is due to the change in the hormone chemicals.
What is the cause of periodontal disease?
Toxins that irritate the gingiva.
What plaque does a ultra-sonic scaler remove?
Subgingival and Supragingival.

Supragingival plaque

Supragingival Plaque.

No more than 3.5mm under the gingiva and there is no calculus but there is bleeding.
BPE Scoring: Score 2.
No more than 3.5mm under the gingiva there is supra or sub gingival plaque present.
BPE Scoring: Score 3.
More than 3.5mm but less than 5.5mm under the gingiva.
