2) if grinding teeth. Wear mouth guard

Xerostomia ( dry mouth) cause by medication, dehydration, alcohol, smoking, mouth breathing, caffeine ..

Possible complications = gingivitis &thrush, caries
Treatment?

A

1) saliva substitute ( Biotene)
2) Fluoride paste/ mouthwash
3) Sugar free Gum
( take medication 1 hr before eating)

A

1) Orajel : Benzocaine 20% - Benzalkoniam 0.02% ZnCl0.1%

2) Peroxyl Mouthwash:
hydrogen peroxide 1.5%
3) ice in pain PRN
4) Debriment , salt water, baking soda paste
Systemic analgesic NOT effective for pain

1) Abreva ( Docosanol )
