Q

Why do you want to work for Lake in Hills?

A

What appealed to me about working for the Lake in The Hills police department is the focus on meeting the needs of the community. The fact that there are 16 different categories of service really emphasizes the priorities and let’s me see the variety of police work, that if hired I could explore and really excel in an area of expertise suited to my strengths.

Q

How have you prepared for a job as a police officer?

A

Start with relative job experience with customer service. I prepared for this job by investing time and money and myself to make sure I was prepared physically as well as mentally. I’ve made fitness and being in shape part of my lifestyle by strength training daily. I’ve also made the effort of talking to police officers I know, both currently working and retired, as well as participating in a ride along. so I can have an accurate idea of what to expect and to make sure i’m prepared to overcome any obstacle’s I may face.

A

18
Q

A

19
Q

Why do you want to become a police officer?

A

I was raised to respect police officers and I was taught that they are there to help. I know that people are often unhappy with police presence but at the end of the day the job is about helping people by putting their safety first. Even though it’s a thankless job I enjoy helping people and I can see myself making a career of doing just that.

20
Q

When presented with a question

A
  1. Identify problem, verify facts.
  2. Analyze facts.
  3. Act appropriately
  4. Review the results
  5. Learn from the experience.
21
Q

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A

How much it means to you only job you’ve ever wanted how hard you work how dedicated you will be how much you respect what they do and how much you want to help others

22
Q

Why do you want to leave your current job?

A

As much as I’ve enjoyed being a bartender, it’s not a job I can see myself making a career out of. When I think of my long term career goals I know I need to invest my time in a career that will benefit not only me but my family as well. I want to adapt my many years of experience with customer service towards policing and really use that knowledge to succeed

23
Q

Greatest strength

A

My greatest strength is that I’m very reasonable. I take time to think about situations and figure out a logical and sensible solution. I’m open minded when it comes to considering a perspective different than my own.

24
Q

What is your greatest weakness?

A

My greatest weakness is not asking for help right away when I need it. There’s a balance between not giving up too easily and admitted defeat and I’m really working on finding the level middle ground. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that most people are more than willing to help, it’s just a matter of asking.

25
Q

How long do you think you will stay on our Police Department when hired?

A

I’m not just looking for a job I’m applying here because I want law enforcement as a career. If hired I plan on staying here until I retire. In talking to other police officers I learned that staying with the same agency far outweighs any benefits of transferring to a different one. When I make up my mind to do something, I do it, all in and I have no intention of pressing restart.
