Optics Flashcards
what types of objects make visible light
Objects with energy
What time of energy do objects that make light visble have?
heat
what angle would a TIR be?
Total internal Reflection
Above the critical angle eg if critical angle is 50 it would be 60
what angle is a refracted angle?
Less than the critical angle
How is the ray reflected if its the same as the critical angle
Right angle, 90 degrees
What does the ray have to be going from and to to have a TIR (totally interal reflection)
Less dense-> more dense
Whats reflection on a bumpy surface called?
And for a smooth surface?
Diffused for bumpy
Specular for smooth
Light is always _ _ _
Reflected, transmittted or absorbed
Faster velocity =
Further from normal
In lense diagrams we know if an imagine is virtual or real if…
If you have to trace back w dotted lines to see where they meet and the object is its virtual, you cant project virtual images
How to do a lense diagram?
Step 1) go thru the middle of the lense down, uneffected by anything
Step 2) The ray goes parallel and then down thru the focus point
*Step 3) Go down thru the first focus point parallel to meet with the other lines
