Ops A EDTO Policy Flashcards
When does an EDTO segment start?
An EDTO segment begins once the aircraft passes beyond the rule distance. (60min - 434nm for twin engine aircraft.)
What weather minima needs to be used for ERAs non-EDTO?
- Above landing minima
- below aircraft and crew crosswind limits
- any PROB less than 40% may be ignored
What minimum weather shall be used for the destination alternate?
- Minima for filing as alternate
- Crosswind below aircraft and crew limit
- PROB and TEMPO/INTER can be ignored if above landing minima
What is a CP?
A CP is a point that is most critical with regards to EDTO fuel and is usually the last ERA.
Which airports may not be used for EDTO planning purposes?
Those airports listed in Ops A 8.5.2.
What is an adequate airport?
An adequate airport is/has:
- sufficient rwy length
- taxiway availability
- ATC
- lighting
- weather reporting
- one navaid or RNAV approach
- adequate RFF
- all airports in aircraft library.
What weather minima needs to be used for ERAs in support of EDTO?
- Minima for filing as alternate
- Crosswind below aircraft and crew limits
- TEMPO/INTER above landing minima may be ignored
- PROB of less than 40% may be ignored
What needs to be checked before departing on an EDTO flight?
- That the nominated route is within EDTO time limits
- That weather and NOTAMs are within limits
- That the critical fuel scenario is planned
- That there are no MEL impacting the EDTO flight
How is the planning minima worked out for alternate aerodromes that only have one available approach to a suitable runway?
Add:
- 400ft to published DH/MDH
- 1500m to published visibility or RVR
What is an EDTO flight?
An operation of a twin engine aircraft further than 60min flight time from an adequate aerodrome at the one engine inop cruising speed in still air.
What minimum weather is required for the destination airport prior to dispatch?
- Vis and ceiling above landing minima
- Crosswind below aircraft and crew limits
- PROB/TEMPO/INTER ignore the VIS
What are the A330/350 rule time distances?
A330:
- 60min - 434nm
- 180min - 1272
A350-900:
- 60min - 434nm
- 180min - 1266
What do you need to consider if the weather for the destination indicates that LVO will be in process at time of intended landing?
- A destination alternate should be nominated which has forecast weather that permits CAT 1 ops (in case of equipment downgrade)
What needs to be met before considering an airport as an EDTO ERA?
- Weather at or above landing minima
- Crosswind below aircraft and crew limits
- ATC services
- one approach
What minimum weather is required for the take-off alternate?
- Vis and Ceiling above CAT 1 minima
- Crosswind below aircraft and crew limits
