MOCA

A

The MOCA is the minimum altitude for a defined segment that provides the required obstacle clearance. A MOCA is determined and published for each segment of the route. (ICAO Doc 8168 PANS-OPS)

The minimum obstacle clearance value to be applied in the primary area for the en-route phase of an IFR flight is 1000 ft (300 m). In mountainous areas, the minimum obstacle clearance applied is as follows:

Duty Period Limits:
• 60 duty hrs in any 7 consecutive days
• 110 duty hrs in any 14 consecutive days
• 190 duty hrs in any 28 consecutive days

Total Flight Time Limits:
• 100 hrs flight time in any 28 consecutive days
• 900 hrs flight time in any calendar year
• 1000 hours flight time in any 12 consecutive calendar months
