What is the primary mission of the CIC/CDC
To provide the organized collection, display, evaluation and dissemination of pertinent tactical information and intelligence to command and control stations.
What is the secondary mission of CIC/ CDC
Command and control
What is the gathering flow function of CDC
Collecting of combat information from various sources
What is the Processing flow function of CIC/CDC
Consists of sorting, inspecting, appraising, and correlating all information so the resulting filtered information may be displayed and disseminated as necessary.
What is the display flow function of CIC/CDC?
Displaying information on status boards or radar scopes.
What is the Evaluation flow function of CIC/CDC?
Considering and weighing all available information to arrive at a sound operational decision.
What is the Dissemination flow function of CIC/CDC?
Distributing evaluated information to the various control stations and others throughout the ship who need to know.
What is TAO and what is their responsibility?
Tactical Action Officer
Direct advisor to the CO from the display/decision area. The only person, other than the CO, that has weapons release authority.
What is the CICWO and what is their responsibility?
Responsible for the coordinated of all CIC functions.
What is an OPORDER?
Issued by a commander for the coordinated execution of an operation in the immediate future. It does not normally contain assumptions. Unless otherwise stated, an OPORD is effective from the from the date and time it is signed.
What is an OPLAN?
A preliminary sketch that gives the important features that will govern a completed plan, such as a campaign plan, a logistics plan, a base development plan, etc.
What is an OPTASK?
Unit specific guidance for the execution of the plan.
What provides the Strategic Plot?
GCCS-M
What provides the geographic plot?
The DRT.

What does IFF stand for?
IDENTIFICATION friend or foe.
What are the modes of IFF?
1 - country code 2 - unit identifier 3 - mission code 4 - military only C - altitude
What is the DRT and what does it do?
Dead reckoning tracer.
A comprehensive true geographic plot of own ships track, other surface contacts, and any assigned shore bombardment targets. Primarily used for man overboard.
What is the purpose of EMCON?
Reduction in signals throughout the frequency spectrum. Can be implemented on a reduced basis through only certain frequency ranges, or can be implemented on a total basis when no signals of any kind are transmitted from the ship. Which includes deceptive lighting.
Define electronic support?
Detects radar signals through finding the targets emitter.
Define electronic attack
Jamming the radar signal emitted. MK-36 DLS (chaff)
Define electronic protect
Anti jamming anyone who is jamming your signal. EMCOM.
Define the Amphibious warfare area.
Assault troops and their equipment and supplies are carried from the assault ships to their designated landing positions ashore by landing craft, amphibious vehicles or helicopters.

Replaced by the SPS 73, use is navigation. Secondary use is surface search. Range is 100 nm.
What is the SPS 67?
Primary surface search radar. Secondary use is navigation. Range is 108 nm.
What is a OPTASK amphibious?
Unit specific guidance for the execution of an amphibious operation.
What is the primary control ship (PCS)?
Provides support for the embarked PCO and a combat information control team to effect PCO directions and to track and and control assault craft assigned.
What is LCAC control ship (LCS)
Provides support for the embarked LCO and an LCAC control team to control LCAC groups from the LCAC launch area to the CPP.
What is the boat group commander (BGC)
Embarked on a large personnel landing craft (LCPL) displaying a zero flag above the beach flag.
Responsible for the discipline and organization of the boat group.
The BGC operates under the direction of the ship’s commanding officer until he reports to a control ship.
Does the BGCs boat carry troops?
No, but does have navigation and operating personnel.
Who is the boat wave commander (bwc)
Responsible for organizing the wave into the proper numerical order. His boat is normally in the front column formation at the apex of a wedge formation and in the center of a line abreast formation.
What is d day?
Day of the amphibious assault
What is H hour?
Time that the first amphibious craft penetrates the beach
What is L hour?
Time the first helicopter lands in the landing zone.
