What is the significance to the image of the cage?
The cage symbolizes oppression and how people’s experiences under oppression are blocked. One interesting thing is that close up you may not even recognize the bars and assume there is this freedom but the further out you go the more that you see the constraints on them

When young girls are not allowed to do things that their boy counter parts are. These inhabitants are not just individuals but rather groups of people which extends to women as a whole
how does Frye explain the question of why people do not believe that women bit into the group of oppressed people?
There is a dispersal of women throughout systems of class and race which organize men and these women experience oppression regardless of their social class, etc.
