Direct- caused by external force
Indirect- caused by intrinsic force
What are soft and hard tissue injuries?
Soft - all tissue
Hard - bones and teeth
What are overuse injuries?
Caused by overuse of a specific body part
This can cause stress fractures
What are the types of soft tissue injuries?
Tears, sprains, contusion
Skin abrasions, lacerations, blisters

What are tears?
Tissue is stretched or severed, it is classified as
Sprains- stretching and tearing of ligament
Strains- muscle or tendon stretched or torn
What is the inflammatory response?
Inflamed responding by activating a self healing process.
Phase 1 - inflammatory stage
Phase 2- repair and regenerative
Phase 3- remodelling stage

Fractures
Dislocations

Two classifications simple or compound. Management: DRABCD Controlling bleeding Treating shock Immobilisation
