- Painful red eye
- Photophobia
- Vericles around eye
- Foreign body sensation
- Watering Eye
- Reduced visual acuity
How do we diagnosis keratitis? [3]
Presence of dentritic corneal ulcer under slit lamp examination with flourescein staining
How can we determine the cause of keratits? [1]
Corneal swab / scarpings for culture and PCR
What is the management of keratitis? [4]
Urgent referral for same-day assessment by ophthalmologist:
- Aciclovir
- Ganciclovir eye gel
- Topical steroids (if stromal keratitis)
- Corneal transplant if scarring occurs
