Causes of optic neuropathy

A

Demyelination (optic neuritis)
Trauma
Compression - pituitary tumour, meningioma
Ischaemia - diabetes, cranial arteritis
Toxic e.g. methanol, ethambutal (used for TB)
Secondary to papilloedema
