Pilocarpine HCL 1.25% (VUITY) FDA approved for presbyopia
- miotic
- improve near-intermediate vision without impacting distance vision.
- AE mild headaches, red eye.
Caution in patients at risk of retinal detachment and ocular inflammation as this was noted as rare occurrence in prior studies.
- off label in Canada, recommended ophthalmologist guide and monitor for now.
- has long term been used for glaucoma.
